2010 Pinch Rule

The NCAA Rules Commitee publicly announced that starting January 1st, 2010 that any heads that dont have the following specifications will be illegall:
  • At any point past 1 and 1/4 inches the head has to be at least 3 inches wide
  • 5 inches away from the throat th head has to be 4 inches wide when measured on the front of the head and 3 and 1/2 inches wide when measured on the back of the head

One of the other rules that the Commitee suggested that will also start in 2010 is that if a player commits a face-off violation the face-off man has to go out and a new face-off guy has to come in for him

Alot of people do not like the new rules; but when you think about it, it makes it easier for the defensman but it makes the players on midfield and attack work more on their stick skills, dodges, and footwork if they want to be a succesfull player. This is so because the now the crosse cant be so pinched that the only way to get the ball out of the stick is to deck him.
